The Monastery of Yperagathou belongs to the Monastery of Sina and dates back to the 17th century. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and the church inside this small monastery has some old icons and nice wall paintings. It is not inhabited now but used to be an important monastery for Zakynthos in the past.
Yperagathou Monastery is located close to Kiliomeno village, 8 km southwest of Macherado village and about 15 km from Zakynthos Town. The road that leads to the monastery crosses flowered fields and gives nice views of Zakynthos mountains. The area surrounding the monastery is peaceful and constitutes a small plateau with pine and oak trees.
